Letter to Shape

Letter to shape was created as an experiment when working with type. When designing this piece, it was difficult to imagine where each body part of the jaguar would come out from or how the J would be positioned to create this piece. I knew I wanted the curve at the bottom of the J to be the tail eventually. The letter J was then modifed to take shape of a jaguar by the end using different tools within Adobe Illustrator. The font used for the letter J was Baskerville URW Bold. The main goal of this piece was to create a smooth transition from the J into the jaguar in 12 steps. The display of the 12 steps is in a subtle J form to reinforce the idea of a J and jaguar.
